Aside from eating healthy, another important component of losing weight is regular exercise.  That is why your weight loss plan should include exercise. Similar to the healthy eating schedule outlined above, you may want to create an exercise schedule for yourself. When incorporating exercise into your workout plan, you have a number of different options. For instance, you can get a membership at one of your local gyms, buy workout DVDs to use at home, buy other exercise equipment, like a treadmill or a stair climber, or exercise for free with walking.

If you do decide to create your own exercise plan, there is something that you may be missing out on.  Should you join an online weight loss program or a local weight loss program, you would likely be a part of a larger group; a group that offers support to each other.  When creating your own weight loss plan, you may not necessarily have that same support. For that reason, you may want to think about seeing if you have any friends, family members, neighbors, or coworkers who would like to exercise with you.  Having a workout partner may help give you the support that you need, as well as serve as a little bit of motivation for you.

When creating a weight loss plan for you, you are advised to put your plan in writing.  You may even want to turn to your computer, as many computers have nice template programs that you can use to make easy to read schedules or charts.  Having your weight loss plan in writing, namely the exercises that you wish to do and the foods that you wish to eat and when, may help to motivate you with losing weight.  What you may want to do is post your schedules in a well-seen spot, like on your refrigerator.

Day one — cabbage soup and any fruit except bananas.

Day three — add vegetables and fruit to the daily cabbage soup, but no bananas or potato.

Day four — enjoy the daily Cabbage soup plus up to eight bananas and skimmed milk.

Day five — cabbage soup and as much as 20 ounces of beef, as well as 6 tomatoes.

Day six — cabbage soup and as much of beef and vegetables as you can eat, no potatoes.

Day seven — unsweetened fruit juice, vegetables except potatoes, brown rice, and of course our friend cabbage soup.

The cabbage soup diet cuts calories by drastic amounts, thus the weight loss is also dramatic

It was often claimed the cabbage soup diet could result in as much as 10 pounds of weight loss in only week. What the diet doesn’t specify is that most of that weight loss would be water. I desperately need to lose weight and I am trying everything.

I walk on the treadmill 90 minutes a day at least 4 days a week.

I drink at least 8 if not 10-8oz glasses of water a day.

I do not drink soft drinks or consume alcoholic beverages.

I use splenda only.

I have drastically reduced my daily food intake.

I am cooking healthy recipes and I mostly bake and steam my food. I sometimes stir-fry in Olive oil cooking spray.

I have been using the Hungry Girl 200 recipes under 200 Calories cookbook. I am reading everything I can about eating healthy.

I measure all of my portion sizes.

I no longer eat deep fried foods and have quit eating red meat. I only eat chicken breast, steamed Tilapia, Shrimp, and White Albacore Tuna.

I only eat 4 oz. of protein a day.

I eat mostly salads and steamed vegetables.

I no longer eat white bread or white rice. I only eat a 1/3 of steamed organic brown rice when I have rice with dinner.

I watch my carb intake very closely. I only eat low calorie bread when I do eat bread.

I quit eating egg yolks and only use egg beaters egg whites.

I do not eat hamburgers or hot dogs.

I have even tried Acai Berry softgels and I am hardly losing any weight.

I tried colon cleanser.

I am currently on a 1200 Calorie Diabetic Diet.

I am also drinking a lot of green tea and still having no luck.

I even had two different Doctors check my Thyroid. I am still stuck at 179 Pounds.

You definitely should not starve yourself while on a diet because you will only be slowing down your metabolism.

You need to eat at least 1200 calories per day. I’ve been on this diet now and I have lost 17 pounds in less than a month.

Basically I have been following The Biggest Loser Diet and it has been amazing.

I have realized that now I can eat more [quantity wise] of healthy foods than I could of processed, junkie foods. Now I am almost never as hungry as I once was.

First, I started cutting out all sodas, sugary soft drinks, and juices and instead I started drinking anywhere between 64-80 ounces of water each and every day. Drinking your water ice cold helps you to not give in to your cravings.

Instead of snacking on junk foods try snacking on fruits and vegetables. Fruits can take the place of sweets that you would have been craving before.

You should also make sure to watch your portion size because you could be eating the right foods but just too much of it.

A great weigh to burn calories quick and get in shape is to do some sort of cardio activity for at least 30 minutes everyday. Personally I would recommend 45 minutes to 1 hour of cardio per day.

Another great way to lose weight that will also help you tone up is to start a strength training program. Essentially you should be following through with your strength training program 3-4 days per week.

Here’s an example of what I eat every day:

  • Breakfast: 1 cup of cream of wheat [you can spice it up with bananas, fruits, spices, etc.]
  • Snack: 1 cup of grapes
  • Lunch: Half of a ham/turkey [protein] sandwich on whole-wheat bread
    Carrots with a tiny bit of ranch dressing to dip it in.
    1 cup of Cantaloupe
    Snack: ½ cup cottage cheese with mandarin oranges
  • Dinner: Chicken fajitas on Whole-Wheat tortillas
  • Dessert: Low-calorie ice-cream bars such as the “Skinny Cow” brand ice cream bars.

    Hello. No. Diabetes is a disease in which your pancreas does not produce insulin to bind with sugar so your body can use it for a nutrient. As a result, the sugar builds up in your blood and spills over into your urine. Low blood sugar or hypoglycemia can leave you feeling terrible and possibly make you pass out, but all you need is a little sugar and you will be just fine. I would recommend carrying around a candy bar or something sweet (orange juice works well). This way, when you feel it coming on you can nip it in the bud.     Elevated blood glucose does not unusually cause ‘hot flashes’. A glucose reading of 160+ mg/dL or 8.9+ mmol/L is only mildly elevated and would not cause any symptoms at all. Thus it is not her diabetes nor her glucose readings that are causing her ‘hot flashes’. When you say 160+ mg/dL or 8.9+ mmol/L it causes me to wonder just how high her glucose readings go. A non-diabetic’s fasting glucose is typically 70 to 100 mg/dL or 3.9 to 5.6 mmol/L. A non-diabetic’s post-prandial (after meal) or bedtime glucose typically does not exceed 140 mg/dL or 7.8 mmol/L. Please note that I say ‘typically’ as there will be some variation from day to day. The goal for a diabetic is similar but not necessarily identical. Physicians tend to allow diabetics to run slightly higher glucose levels in order to avoid excessive hypoglycemia. If your grandmother consistently runs at the level that you suggest she might wish to let her physician know. A change in her medical regimen may be in order.     You really need to talk to your endocrinologist about this one. Decreasing your calorie intake could be really harmful if you are insulin dependent. This could change your basal rate and affect the units per dose of insulin. If you are over weight your doctor would favor going on such a diet, but check first because your meds may need adjusted.

    I have diabetes, but my doctor has given me the go-ahead to follow the P90X program.

    Can someone who has diabetes and followed the P90X routine offer any suggestions for the P90X diet plan?

    Currently I’m only taking metformin once a day. I found out about it 2 months ago. I hope I can get off it altogether with P90x.

    Well the P90X has a pretty healthy diet so you shouldn’t have to. Just listen to your body, if you feel weak and dizzy be sure to eat a snack. Other than that you should be fine.

    The University of Illinois, Chicago, carried out a 10-week experiment of intermittent fasting with 16 patients, all of whom weighed more than 196 lbs.


    They ate 20 per cent of their normal food intake one day (ie the fasting day) and a regular, healthy diet the next day (ie the eating day). Each of them lost 10 lbs to 30 lbs, while they were expected to lose only about 5 lbs or 6 lbs.


    Trials have also shown that the alternate-day diet does not slow down your metabolism. This is one of the reasons why it can help you lose weight.


    The skinny gene helps you lose weight fast

    In recent years, research results have led scientists to believe that the alternate-day diet’s success may be due to a specific gene known as SIRT1 - nicknamed ’skinny’ gene.


    It seems the sudden, sharp stress of a big drop in food intake (as a result of the intermittent fasting) triggers this ’skinny’ gene. This then blocks another gene involved in storing fat.
